A downloadable game

Glowtato is a blind puzzle exploration game about light, growth, and unintended consequences.

You play as a small living potato, navigating a dark, grid like world where vision is limited and every action reshapes the map. Somewhere in the darkness, other potatoes are trapped, waiting to be rescued.

Play Blind

At the start, you can only see a small area around yourself.
The rest of the world is hidden in darkness.

There is no full map.
No overview.
Only memory, intuition, and careful movement.

Exploration is slow, quiet, and uncertain.

Light Comes From Growth

The only way to expand visibility is by growing plants.

  • Water a plant → it grows

  • Grown plants emit light in a radius

  • More growth = more visibility

Light reveals paths, objects, and lost potatoes, but it comes at a cost.

Growth Can Block You

Plants are physical.

If you grow them carelessly, they can:

  • Block corridors

  • Trap you in darkness

  • Cut off access to rescued potatoes

There is no “undo”.

Every plant placement matters.

Cut, But Lose the Light

You carry scissors to cut plants when things go wrong.

  • Cutting removes the plant segment

  • The area becomes dark again

  • Visibility is reduced

Sometimes cutting is necessary to survive,
but each cut returns the world closer to darkness.

Rescue Others

You are not alone.

Other potatoes are scattered across the map, unseen at first.
To rescue them, you must:

  • Reveal them with light

  • Navigate safely without blocking paths

  • Balance growth and removal

Saving others often means risking your own way forward.

Themes: Humanity – Nature – Space

Glowtato reflects on:

  • Humanity: limited vision, imperfect decisions

  • Nature: growth that helps and harms

  • Space: emptiness, silence, and isolation

The world does not forgive mistakes,
but it allows you to live with them.

Grow carefully.
See wisely.
Rescue who you can.
